Video Game Academies

WEEK 1 (June 26-June 30)

Video Game Design (part 1): Campers use math, logic, communication, concentration and critical thinking skills, problem solving and creative thinking, all while doing something they love and enjoy- Video Games! Each camper will gain a fantastic working knowledge of the technical and artistic concepts necessary in designing video games, and will receive their own finished game to bring home for friends and family to play!  Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade.

Robotics: Campers will learn the fundamental engineering and technical principles of building and programming robots to move and function. Through the use of sound, light, and touch sensors, campers will be able to program their robots to "see, hear, and perceive" their surroundings. Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade.

WEEK 2 (July 3-July 7)

Intro to Coding: Coding is what makes it possible for us to create computer software, apps and websites. The world of technology is always changing, but at the core of these changes is Coding! Campers will explore the limitless world of Coding in this self-guided and self-paced Academy. Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade.

WEEK 3 (July 10-July 14)

Minecraft Modding: Campers will customize their Minecraft worlds by making their own skins, mobs, blocks, and items. Then they can program cool mods to create a custom Lucky Block, set up monster battles in a gladiator arena, and build immense structures programmatically. At the end of the course, they’ll have a fun portfolio of mods and multiplayer games that they’ve programmed. Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade.

Video Game Design (part 2): A continuation of Video Game Design (Part 1).  Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade. *Prerequisite: Video Game Design (Part 1)

WEEK 4 (July 17-July 21)

3D Animation & Design (Part 1): This course is designed to introduce the 4 phases of 3D, Modeling, Animating, Texturing and Rendering. Campers will learn how to model and animate their own designs and will be introduced to the technical and artistic concepts and techniques for 3D modeling and animating. Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade. *Prerequisite: Video Game Design (Part 2)

Video Game Programming (part 1): Campers continue to build more advanced game development techniques. They create a new two-dimensional game and add advanced features and capabilities beyond their introductory-level games, adding custom sound effects and animations. Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade. Prerequisite: Video Game Design (Part 2)

WEEK 5 (July 24-July 28)

3D Animation & Design (part 2): A continuation of GBA-3-D Modeling & Animation (Part 1). Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade. *Prerequisite: 3D Animation & Design (Part 1)

Video Game Programming (part 2):  A continuation of Video Game Programming (Part 1). Open to Campers entering 2nd-8th grade.  *Prerequisite: Video Game Programming (Part 1)
